- Contact details: full name, email address, phone number and the state you live in
- Trip details: travel dates, number of nights, who is travelling, number of travellers, trip style and budget
- Booking details: names and dates of birth of all travellers, passport details, special requests, dietary or accessibility needs, and emergency contact details
- Payment details: billing information needed to process payments (card details are handled by our payment provider and are not stored by us)

Some booking details, such as dietary or medical needs, may be sensitive information. We only collect these with your consent and only to arrange your travel.
3. How we collect and use your information
We collect information directly from you when you:
- fill in an enquiry or lead form on our website, Facebook or Instagram
- message us on WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, Instagram, email or phone
- request a quote, make a booking or pay for a trip
- subscribe to our newsletter or browse our website
When you complete a lead form in one of our Facebook or Instagram ads, Meta Platforms passes the details you enter to us so we can reply to your enquiry.

- process payments and refunds
- contact you before, during and after your trip, including in an emergency

- meet our legal, tax and insurance obligations and prevent fraud
We will never sell or rent your personal information.
4. Marketing, advertising and cookies
Marketing messages. We only send marketing emails or messages if you have agreed to receive them or have enquired with us. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can opt out at any time by replying “STOP” or emailing us.
Advertising. We advertise on Facebook and Instagram. Meta may use cookies and similar tools to show our ads to people likely to be interested, and to measure how our ads perform. You can manage how Meta uses your data for ads in your Facebook or Instagram ad preferences.
Cookies. Our website uses cookies to remember your preferences, keep the site working and understand how visitors use it. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, although some parts of the site may not work properly without them.
5. Who we share your information with
We share only what is needed to arrange your trip or run our business, with:
- Travel suppliers: resorts, guest houses, airlines, seaplane, speedboat and transfer operators, and tour and dive operators
- Service providers: website hosting, email, payment processing, booking systems and accounting software
- Advertising platforms: Meta (Facebook and Instagram), for lead forms and measuring ads
- Others when required: government authorities, immigration, insurers or law enforcement, where the law requires or allows it, or to protect someone’s safety
Overseas disclosure. Because we arrange travel to the Maldives, your booking details will be sent to suppliers in the Maldives. Some details may also pass through suppliers or service providers in other countries, such as airlines and transit hubs (for example Singapore or Sri Lanka) and technology providers whose servers are outside Australia. We take reasonable steps to make sure they handle your information appropriately, but overseas laws may not protect your information in the same way as Australian law. By booking with us, you consent to this disclosure.
6. How we store and protect your information
We store your information in secure, password-protected accounts and systems, using two-factor authentication where available. Only Muraka Travels has access, and we never ask you to send card details by email or message.
We keep your information only as long as we need it:
- Enquiries that don’t become bookings: up to 2 years, then deleted
- Booking and payment records: 7 years, to meet Australian tax and accounting rules
- Passport details: deleted once your trip is complete, unless we need them for an ongoing issue
If a data breach is likely to cause you serious harm, we will tell you and, where required, the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).
7. Access, correction and complaints
Access and correction. You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct or delete it. Email us and we will respond within 30 days. There is no charge, although we may need to confirm your identity first.
Complaints. If you are concerned about how we have handled your information, please email us with details. We will acknowledge your complaint within 7 days and aim to resolve it within 30 days.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at www.oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.
8. Children, changes and contact
Children. We do not knowingly collect information directly from anyone under 18. Details of children travelling in a family booking are provided by a parent or guardian and used only to arrange that trip.
Changes to this policy. We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page, with the date it was last updated at the top.
