What $1,750pp Actually Gets You in the Maldives

I wrote a while back about the gap between a $3,000 Maldives holiday and a $10,000 one. The response I kept getting was the same question: “Okay, but what does your trip actually cost, and what do I get for it?”

So here is the honest, specific answer. No vague “from” pricing, no “on request.” This is what $1,750pp actually buys on Two Worlds, One Lagoon, my signature Maldives split stay.

The Trip in One Line

Based on a 6 night itinerary, that is 4 nights on a local island followed by 2 nights in an overwater villa or private island resort. One Maldives trip, two completely different experiences, for one all in price per person. The split can extend to a 6 to 9 day trip depending on your dates, and seasonal variations apply.

What's Included

    • Boutique local island guesthouse stay
    • Luxury private island resort or overwater villa stay
    • Daily breakfast and selected dinners, half board style
    • Two curated excursions of your choice, such as guided snorkelling, a sandbank visit, a dolphin cruise or island hopping
    • All Maldives airport and inter island transfers
    • Dedicated on ground Muraka support throughout your trip

What's Not Included (and Why That's a Good Thing)

International flights are not bundled in. That surprises some people, but it is deliberate. Bundled flight and resort packages usually mean you are paying whatever premium the resort’s preferred airline partner charges. Booking flights yourself means you can use points, pick your own dates, and in most cases the total cost, flights plus stay, comes out lower than a bundled resort package, even with more nights and two islands instead of one.

Where This Actually Takes You

Your trip starts at Velana International Airport in Male, then a speedboat transfer to your local island. Days 1 to 4 are spent immersed in local island life: a guided snorkelling trip to nearby coral reefs, a guided island walk to learn about local traditions, and slower days built around the bikini beach, the lagoon, and optional extras like dolphin watching or a private sandbank picnic.

From there, you transfer to your overwater villa or private island resort for the second half of the trip, either by speedboat or domestic flight. This is the iconic part of the Maldives most people picture: direct lagoon access, sweeping ocean views, and full privacy, with time to add a spa treatment, a sunset cruise, or private dining if you want to.

I work directly with a small group of partner properties across the Maldives, including Lagoon View Maldives, Shams Thoddoo, Gangehi Island Resort and Nika Island Resort, and the local island and resort combination for your trip is matched to your dates and preferences rather than a fixed, one size fits all itinerary.

Who This Is For

  • First time Maldives travellers who want the overwater villa photo without an overwater villa only price tag
  • Couples who would rather split their time between two different experiences than sit still in one resort for a week
  • Anyone who has assumed the Maldives starts at $5,000+ per person and has not looked closer

What $1,750pp Doesn't Get You

Being upfront here matters more to me than the sale. This is not a five star private island resort for the whole trip, seaplane transfers, or a butler. If that is specifically what you want, my $10,000 comparison post is a better read than this one. What $1,750pp gets you is a genuinely well designed trip that does not feel like a compromise, just a different, more considered way to spend the budget.
